Mr. Gothard has practiced casualty litigation in state and federal court for thirty years, representing the victims of personal injury. He has represented hundreds of individuals who sustained personal injury in motor vehicle collisions and as the result of medical malpractice. In his early career, he was fortunate to work with one of the pre-eminent plaintiff firms in New Orleans, and then a boutique casualty defense firm. Utilizing his skills and insight from these diverse practices, he formed his own litigation firm. In 1997, he merged his practice to form Nowalsky & Gothard. Since that time, Mr. Gothard has expanded his extensive litigation experience to commercial litigation, particularly in the telecommunications field.

Mr. Gothard has written and lectured for continuing legal education seminars, typically in the fields of trial advocacy and legal malpractice. He holds an "AV" rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, which is the highest rating an attorney may receive from that publication and is based upon the collective opinion of his peers.

Mr. Gothard has served as a Board member and Officer for numerous non-profit organizations in Louisiana. In 2004 he received the Pro Bono Publico Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association in recognition of his public service. A native of New Orleans, he is a weekend fisherman, part time wood-worker, occasional musician, back country hiker, and snow ski enthusiast.
